How Social Media Denizens Reacted to Republic Day?

Of the various activisms that is happening in India off-late, the last week of January was all about boycotting the Republic Day parade to protest the burtal gang rape that shook the nation and the beheading of Indian Army jawan at the line-of-control. ThoughtBuzz, a startup that focuses on social media analytics, looked closely at the buzz generated by this boycott in the virtual world. The data was collected by ThoughtBuzz’s proprietary social media monitoring application that tapped platforms like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, forums, news, comments etc. The survey focused only on users who had India as their geographic location.

The sample size was 2,000 mentions across blogs (9%), forums (1%), networks(4%), news sites(11%), microblogs (Twitter, Facebook – 75%).
