We’ve cribbed enough about hiring issues and written about the hiring saga of a startup or the ways in which you shouldn’t hire! Taking these cue, there have been multiple startups trying to solve the recruitment issue. One such startup is Huntshire that is tackling the problem by giving it the angle of ‘hunts’.
Now, what are ‘hunts’?
“A public hunt is an online job fair where we connect companies with a bunch of talented candidates. A public hunt is an online event where the candidates are asked a set of puzzles on a certain topic. The hunt is designed with our proprietary Hunt methodology which minimizes the scope of guessing in the hunt. Once the hunt is over, the candidate’s scores along with their resume details are mapped together and are presented to the recruiter as one. A public hunt has the potential of reaching out to hundreds of job applicants and speaks about your company to thousands of people who see the event page,” believes HuntShire.
The founding team comprises of two hard core techies and the seller, Shankar Ganapathy with whom we talk for this interview. Vishnu and Gaurav are the techies in question. Huntshire is the brainchild of Vishnu, a graduate of NIT Raipur (National Institute of Technology, Raipur) where he completed his Electronics Engineering. He has worked in Cognizant for two years before starting HuntShire with the other two. Gaurav was his colleague at Cognizant. While Shankar, the sales person in the team has had experience of working with two startups prior to this and is a graduate from NIT Trichy.
Having conducted Hunts for few start-ups like RangDe, Mobstac and Bluegape, Huntshire has seen good early traction. Huntshire were also a part of our Tech30 companies of 2012. Talking of the revenue model, Shankar says, “We have a simple revenue model. We charge a fixed amount for every hunt. We do not mind even if a lot of candidates participate in the hunt. Our service is completely free for job seekers.” HuntShire is currently being incubated at TLabs.
On Techsparks and TLabs
All three of us are first generation entrepreneurs and are really excited about what we’re building. Though we had the MVP ready, Techsparks gave us the initial pilot users who could use our platform for their hiring needs. From then on, there was no looking back. Also Techsparks gave the eye balls that we needed to push our product into the market. TLabs happened to us soon after Techsparks got over. TLabs is an excellent place for any start-up. They have a hands on approach to fine tuning our strategy and market focus. They have got us connected with some excellent mentors. In terms of business strategy, TLabs has helped us refine our approach and helped us focus on certain market segments. They also offer the right mix of start-up environment backed by corporate experience. Also learning from the fellow batchmates in TLabs has done great wonders to HuntShire.
